2️⃣ Ad storyboards just got waaaaay easier

I was using ChatGPT for storyboards for my team and would then go to Midjourney to upscale or refine them.

Now, for many marketers, the flow will simply be ChatGPT > Canva. 🙌🏼

3️⃣ It's very good at text

This transforms it from a toy to a tool. 🪀 > 🔨

4️⃣ Slower off the mark, but better output

While it's slower to render an image from my early testing, you can quickly create Memes and other quick social media content.

Good things are worth waiting for. 🧠🤖

5️⃣ UI and UX Designs directly from a prompt

🧠 Here's how I'm thinking about this: There are now 400 million ChatGPT users who have a Mid-Journey-like tool. There's going to be a lot of images, memes, and visual content created. 

‼️ The danger with this relaxed new model by ChatGPT is lawsuits. We're going to have to see how the court cases play out, but it's something to keep an eye on. 

🔮What I’m doing as a marketer, in light of these ChatGPT Imagery updates:

👉🏼 I'm going to start talking to it right away so it figures out my voice prompts. It should make up for my lack of Adobe Photoshop skills. 😌

👉🏼 Since ChatGPT is integrated into many of my workflows through Zapier, I see these for making my life easier:

  • Integration advantage: ie, Competitive ad review to a New Ad storyboard

  • Workflow simplification: One tool instead of multiple subscriptions and interfaces

  • Brand consistency: Generate images with proper logos, taglines, and messaging.

  • Context switching: No more going between ChatGPT and Mid-Journey 

  • Collaborative working: Everyone will be testing a lot more creative. Less meetings, more creative output as we can workshop it as a team in real time in one go.

🌎 The Bigger Picture

With 400+ million users now having access to high-quality image-generation capabilities, we're about to see a massive democratization of visual content creation.

This means:

  1. Higher visual quality baseline: The "floor" for acceptable visual content is rising, fast.

  2. Strategy and 'Taste’ become more important: When everyone can create decent visuals, your strategic approach, offer, emotional hook, framing, and messaging will need to differentiate you.

  3. Experimentation opportunity: Test visual concepts quickly without design bottlenecks.

  1. If you have ChatGPT Plus: Test the image generator this week with one specific marketing asset you need.

  2. If you're paying for multiple tools: Evaluate your current design stack and identify potential redundancies to save time and context switching. 

  3. For team workflows: Document a simple ChatGPT image prompt template your team can use for consistent results.
