🤖 AI Truth vs. Hallucination – What You Need to Know

My class was surprised at how often ChatBots made things up...

AI is great... until it starts "hallucinating." 😵‍💫

My UNH class this week was surprised by how often it happens.

Students who used Google were shocked. What do you notice? ChatGPT is not on that list. GPT 4o comes in at 1.5% Hallucination rate. That is part of why I recommend it.

What You Need To Know 🚀

  • Why it Happens: AI chatbots generate responses based on patterns, not facts—making "hallucinations" inevitable.

  • The Fixes in Progress: Researchers are working on solutions like…

    • 🧐 Fact-checking algorithms

    • 🔄 Self-reflection techniques

    • 🔍 Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) to pull data from verified sources

  • Why AI’s Not Perfect: Despite improvements, eradicating hallucinations completely is... impossible (for now).

What You Can Do Now: Use my prompt framework and QA your results.

News You Can Test 🧪

  • I spent my weekend playing with OpenAI Operator I’ll be doing a deep dive on it next week but buckle in as ChatGPT can now use a browser, and it will change how we work in the long term.

  • OpenAI Canvas (which I love) now works with o1 and can render HTML and React (custom emails just got a lot easier for me) 🤗

  • Nerds, the market, and the socials are freaking out over Deep Seek (low-cost Chinese Open source LLM). Let's take a breath and see what this looks like in a month.

  • Google updated its Search Quality guidelines (PDF Download) last week for SEO’s

  • My Ad team at ScaledOn is excited on getting more control over Google Ads Performance Max campaigns

Prompts to Try 🤖

I've been deep in user research these past few weeks, and here’s two prompts to up your marketing game:

Use ChatGPT with web search to “Find the last ten most recent questions posted on Reddit about [replacing home windows]. Focus on threads from relevant subreddits like r/HomeImprovement, r/DIY, and r/Homeowners. Present the findings in a table format, including columns for the question, subreddit, and date posted.”

You will get something like this back:

Then, if I want FAQ’s for a blog/landing page, I might go with, “As expert seo take the table above and, using the SCQA (Situation, Complication, Questions, Answer) framework, write me the top 3 faqs for [add website].

And then using that output I’d write, “As top 2% google ad words expert, give me five ad words ads for "replacing home windows" using the above data in the problem, promise, Call to action framework (and for the B Ad Set) 4P’s framework ((Problem, Promise, Proof, and Push)).

This Friday:

In the spirit of my recent UNH classes, I’m dropping Alec’s Actionable AI Marketing Hacks for Beginners. Keeping a beginner’s mind is key—AI is evolving fast, and what I recommended last January is already outdated…

Until Friday,

Alec

P.S. If you want even better results, load your Persona Template into your folder/chat box for the prompts above. 🙂
